Reflection

I'm cranking this one out for no reason other than I want to reminisce. Also I can't think of anything else to write. I should be starting work soon, fingers crossed. But there's still a chance I might not start til next month. If that happens, I might die. Holy crap.

Anywho. I can't believe it has been over a year since my trip to Chicago to see Ryan's boot camp graduation. Which means it's also going on a year since I moved away from St. George.

These are by far some of the favorite memories I have.
While he was in boot camp I wrote him a letter every single night, and sent it out each morning (except Sundays.) He told me that some days he'd get 3 letters in a day (because they receive mail weird there) and that he loved it. Every day I'd get home from work and basically RUN up the stairs to see if I had a letter waiting for me on the bed. I only got to talk to him on the phone twice during the 2 months he was there. So I lived for his letters.

Basically going to see him graduate had turned me into a big knot of nerves. We flew from Vegas to Chicago, and spent the night before just walking around the ridiculously huge mall near Great Lakes. And the next morning we were up bright and early to go to the base.

My favorite part of the ceremony was probably listening to hundreds of sailors singing "Anchors Aweigh." My second favorite part was the part where it ended and I got a big hug from my favorite person in the world. And then spending the next two days getting lost in Chicago and being freezing cold. The deep dish wasn't so shabby either.

This is just one of those memories that I really hold dear to my heart. I don't particularly know why. I just feel like it was a point in my life where my love for him grew even more, when I didn't think it could be possible. And maybe I've just been sitting here all night thinking about how much I love him and wanted to write a blog post that mostly revolves around him. Whatevs.

That is the end of my overly sentimental reminiscing post.

It's crazy what a year does, right?

I'm so glad you have great memories about this time. Sending and receiving letters is one of my favorite things ever!
