Sorry For The Religious Post

Disclaimer: These are my views. My opinions.. MY blog. If you don't like my religious views, I'm sorry. I'm not here to step on anyone's toes and I completely respect other opinions. Feel free to chip in with what you believe. But don't get into an argument with anyone!

Ok. I'm not exactly going to post my opinion in my own words, because someone else said it so perfectly for me. But here goes.

Today, I was on Facebook just messing around. Procrastinating. That's when I read a friend's status, and this is what it said:

"There is a God and only 1 God and that is the SUN. Take away the Sun, and we all die. The Sun is what brought LIFE to this planet and continues to bring life. Also the perfect positioning of the Earth from the SUN is what enables life here. There is no God in the image of MAN, thats bullshit!! God is the SUN."

She followed this up by posting more in the comments, of her own status. She always does this.

*also- I apologize if this offends you, all I found interesting is the fact that religions actually believe this and I can see their position on this- you take out the sun, there goes all life... you leave the sun there, it provides and creates life.... Sorry, but I believe a lot in scientific facts. Not a scientologist or anything, I just follow the proven facts. XD

Now. I was going to blather on about my views on this, but when I checked back later, someone had posted on it. What they said was basically everything I had tried to say:

Who made the sun? True, there is only 1 God, but He isn't the sun, He made the sun. And just how did the earth become placed at just the perfect distance from the sun? The Sun didn't bring life to this planet, but it does sustain it. True, there is no God in the image of man, God made man in his image-man is made in God's image.

So there you have it. My view, in someone else's words. I'm not an eloquent speaker, in fact I suck at getting my point across. But all I could think was...

"Really?"

I respect everyone's beliefs. I may not like them all. I don't like the fact that people need to rely on facts. Because what's a huge factor in religion? Faith.

Can you truly have faith if everything is already proven? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having faith? That's what God is.. He gives you those building blocks, the stepping stones.. but ultimately you make the decision for yourself. Do you have the faith?

Ok. I'm really leaving tomorrow. No more blog posts for a week. hehe.. sorry!

P.S. Have you been to the bangin' hot book boys club yet? Check it out!

I hate when people tell me to prove there is a God. Wow, so you only believe in things that can be proven? I respect everyone's opinion/beliefs. But come on! Really? "There's no God because it can't be proven"? That's the worst argument of them all. I've also heard, "if there's a God, then show him to me." My response was, "if there's air, then show it to me."

After all, you can't see air, but you can feel it, so you know it's there. It's the same for me and my belief in my Heavenly Father. The end :)

Ah the great faith debate. Faith versus fact. Religion versus science. Why must people insist on pitting the two up against each other? Science will tell me how to build an atomic bomb - it won't tell me what to do with it.
They're not mutually exclusive ideologies. It just happens to be that science has become THE dominant ideology in today's age and people on both sides have reacted rather strongly to that.
But oh well.

On a lighter note, I've decided you deserve an award, though I'm sure you would've already received one of these at some stage. (Yes, I think your blog is that good.)

I feel sorry for those with no faith. What a sad way to go through life.

Have a great vacation.

Good on you, for stating what you believe firm and unafraid. I think if more people were less insecure in what they believe, it could be discussed more openly to the benefit of many.

I always enjoy conversing with those who believe that science, the big bang theory, the fact of evolution, the possibility of life on other planets, or any other potentially provable possibility could be the slightest bit threatening to God, or contradicts the existence of God.

As if God didn't mean us to figure out how it all worked! What part of "created in God's image" do people not get? We are created creators. We are created with the capacity to create, and to understand creation. As a species, it's our job to grow up and get down to it.

I think it's fine to talk religion as long as you aren't trying to force your beliefs on someone else. It is definitely your blog and nothing you said comes off as "this is what I think therefore it is absolutely true therefore you must believe me or ELSE." Your post is honest and open and that's all anyone can ask for. Kudos!

I'm afraid I disagree. I think if I start thinking about the nature of God (apart from being a higher entity) I'll go crazy! :)

But I do like the fact that you have your own interpretation, without our diversity of thought we will cease to exist.

When I started reading the original status post about the sun I was thinking the same thing as the last post - Bless that person for saying it right!

I couldn't agree more, the person's response was very well put! Any religion is faith, even not having a religion I find it hard to believe that someone doesn't have something they believe in, if that makes sense. I believe in God with all of my heart and that he made the sun, and his son who died for us. What a beautiful gift! Happy Thanksgiving!

no need to apologize for the religious post. i loved it. one of my favorite quotes is...

"I believe in Christ like I believe in the sun at noonday, not because I can see it, but by it I can see all things." - C.S. Lewis -

happy thanksgiving!!

The fact that we are given free will to make that decision is what makes faith so amazing. But I definitely hate when people try to force their beliefs on me...even if they're my beliefs. It just feels a little like someone is thinking they know something I don't know.
